Project Description
The Modernisation of Signaling System on the East - West Railway Corridor in Latvia Project (2005-2012), co-financed by European Union, European Investment Bank and European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, provided for the design and construction of new railway signaling system, including outdoor equipment, automatic block system, high voltage electric network, interlocking and telecommunication dispatching posts to ensure reliable transition of cargo from Russia and Belarus in the direction to the Latvian ports.
Within the frame of the project the following works were carried out:
- Laying of railway signaling and telecommunications cables (218 km)
- Trench excavation
- Installation of signals at level crossings
- Installation of signaling outdoor equipment
- Installation of cable manholes
